Objective: Regular exercise is associated with numerous health benefits. Time management-related behaviors may be relevant to the adoption and maintenance of exercise; however, their relationship with exercise stages has not been clearly established. This study aimed to examine the associations between exercise stages of change and six self-reported time management-related behaviors among individuals aged 18–25 years. Materials and Method: This cross-sectional study included 202 university students from XXXX University in Türkiye. Data were collected using a sociodemographic information form, the Exercise Stages of Change Questionnaire, and six researcher-developed items assessing specific time management-related behaviors. Each item was analyzed separately. Spearman’s rank-order correlation and separate ordinal logistic regression analyses were used to examine associations between exercise stage and the individual behavior items. Results: Among the six-time management-related behaviors, only the item “I make plans to use my time efficiently” was significantly associated with exercise stage. This item showed a positive correlation with exercise stage (ρ = 0.248, p < 0.001). In ordinal logistic regression, each one-point increase in agreement with this statement was associated with 59% higher odds of being classified in a more advanced exercise stage (OR = 1.59, 95% CI: 1.23–2.04, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Planning to use time efficiently was the only time management-related behavior associated with exercise stage. Future longitudinal studies using validated multidimensional instruments are needed to clarify the role of time management-related behaviors in exercise participation.
Aim: To determine health-sciences students’ new media literacy and xenophobia levels and to examine the effect of new media literacy and media-use characteristics on xenophobia and language-based clinical discrimination. Methods: In this cross-sectional, correlational study, a convenience sample of undergraduate health-sciences students completed the New Media Literacy Scale, the Xenophobia Scale, and a sociodemographic and media-use questionnaire form. The analytic sample comprised 354 students. Results: A small positive significant association was found between new media literacy and xenophobia (r=.16,p=.003), driven by functional rather than critical sub-dimensions; the four sub-dimensions jointly explained 3.6% of the variance. The strongest correlate of xenophobia was being affected by negative immigrant-related content on social media (p<.001). Having a foreign/immigrant friend did not create a significant difference, whereas critical media literacy showed a protective but non-significant trend against language-based treatment prioritization (OR=0.45,p=.106). The measurement instruments demonstrated strong psychometric properties with high internal-consistency reliability. Conclusions: Technical fluency with new media does not protect against xenophobia; the valence of encountered content matters more. Curricula should shift from technical training toward critical digital media literacy embedded in transcultural ethics education.
Diyabetes Mellitus (DM); insülin salınımının
olmaması, insülin etkisinin yetersiz olması ya da
bu faktörlerin her ikisinde birden sorun bulunması
nedeniyle ortaya çıkan hiperglisemi ile karakterize
olan ve neden olduğu komplikasyonlar nedeniyle
bireylerin cerrahi girişim geçirme oranını artıran
yaygın görülen kronik bir hastalıktır. Perioperatif
dönemde hasta sonuçlarını doğrudan etkileyen önemli
etkenlerden biridir. Cerrahi girişimlerin oluşturduğu
fizyolojik stres; kortizol, katekolamin ve glukagon
gibi kontrregülatuvar hormonların salınımını artırarak
glikoz metabolizmasını olumsuz yönde etkilemekte
ve hiperglisemi ile hipoglisemi gibi metabolik
dengesizliklere neden olabilmektedir. Bu süreçte
kontrol altına alınamayan glisemik değişiklikler;
Perioperatif
dönemde glisemik kontrolün sağlanmasında
hemşireler; hasta değerlendirmesi, kan şekeri
izlemi, insülin ve ilaç yönetimi, komplikasyonların
önlenmesi, hasta eğitimi ve taburculuk planlaması
gibi önemli sorumluluklar üstlenmektedir. Diyabetes
mellituslu hastaların bireysel gereksinimlerine uygun
planlanan hemşirelik bakımı, komplikasyonların
azaltılmasına ve cerrahi sonuçların iyileştirilmesine
katkı sağlamaktadır.
Manual body acupressure is a non-pharmacological, practical, and low-cost complementary approach that can be used to manage symptoms such as pain, sleep disturbances, and fatigue. This letter to the editor discusses the findings of randomized controlled trials comparing manual body acupressure to standard care or sham acupressure in adult individuals between 2015 and 2025. The findings suggest that acupressure can have positive effects, particularly on pain and sleep quality. However, there is significant heterogeneity among the studies in terms of acupressure points applied, duration of application, and protocols. Therefore, more robust randomized controlled trials with standardized protocols are needed to more clearly define the place of acupressure in clinical practice.
